I've been playing guitar since I was 13. My first instrument was a hand-me-down from my Dad, a Sears Silvertone with nylon strings in place of the steel. (Since the action was so high, this was a very good thing - particularly for a beginner.) Over the years, I got better guitars. I played lots of folk music and pop songs (1969 forward) and also came up with some tunes of my own. In 2000, I recorded 10KMiles, a guitar duet. But, with one exception, it wasn't until early 2009 that I started writing lyrics. The impediment was my perfectionism. I wouldn't accept partial rhymes, for one thing. I also was unwilling to modify a tune to fit lyrics. None of these roadblocks were obvious to me at the time.

By 2008, life had somehow lessened (but did not eliminate) my perfectionism. With less perfectionism, I found I was able to write lyrics to go along with some of the tunes I created over the years. None of these recordings satisfy me, but I've found I have unreasonable expectations for my own creations. I now push myself to err on the other side, and favor putting something out there over getting it exactly right. So some of these tunes, particularly the more recent ones, are rough cuts. I'm an amateur musician - and an amateur recording engineer too. Links to my songs are below. Thanks for listening!
